The UK may still be in recession, and especially with today’s news that the economy shrunk 2.4% in the last quarter, people may be thinking its all doom and cloom. Here’s my recommendations for same good value wines that anyone can afford:
Waitrose Saint-Émilion, Hubert de Boüard 2006 (link)
This is a beautiful mouth filling red wine made with Merlot grapes from the Bordeaux region of France. Its great value for money too at just £8.35 a bottle.
Gold Label Chardonnay 2008 (link)
Currently a Marks & Spencer wine of the month, this dry white chardonnay serves great or on its or with traditional white wine dishes such as chicken or fish. What’s even better is its current price of just £5.00 a bottle.
Calvet Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc 2007 (link)
This white wine also comes from the Bordeaux region of France and is another Waitrose pick. Like the wines above, it’s a great wine that can be enjoyed on its own or with food.
